I searched archives and found little on performing coolant flush. I want to do it on my '02 allroad
but my buddy who used to have a B5S4 said there is a procedure to follow and if not done correctly the system can get airbound. Any truth to this or can I just fill it up and run the engine? TIA.

i think the trick has something to do with compressing the thermostat
before filling, but that's after a timing belt change.
as for a flush, i figure flushing with water should be no big deal. find the lowest point for the coolant, drain, fill up with water, run the car for a few min., drain again, fill properly.

Remove the front engine cover(the one w/the dipstick)....
under the dv you will see a black coolant pipe with a plug that has a 5mm allen socket. When you refill with new coolant(only g12 of course), loosen this plug. It is a bleeder screw which allows air to escape when filling. once coolant begins to flow out of the bleeder screw, tighten screw and continue to fill coolant. start engine and turn heater on high and bring to operating temperature. Make sure you get heat out of the vents so you know you don't have an air pocket in the heater core. Take it around the block a bit and come back and recheck....
