Minimum modifications
I'm considering buying a '02 or '03 A6 2.7T. I would like to do a Stage 1 chip (I like the idea of the APR w/ stock & valet options). Are there other things I would need to do with the chip? I don't plan on racing (maybe 1 AutoX/year).
I've tried to get an idea of who's experienced blown turbos, many seem to be beyond stage 1 modifications. If I go Stage 1, what precautions do I need to take to keep from blowing turbos?

Common sense saves turbos
When you are going to drive hard make sure the oil/engine/turbos are warmed up first. Likewise, after a run make sure you drive for a bit and get the oil/engine/turbos back down to standard operating temps before turning the car off. A turbo timer helps imensely in this.

synthetic oil...w-40 or 0w-30
A Tranny Chip (TIP) from GIAC may also help.
I have APR in my Allroad..its a FLash program 5.0 and I love it.. the MPG even with the same driving styl as stock..is about 10% worse.

Re: Minimum modifications
With just the stage one chip (I have stage 1 from APR) your turbos will be fine. Just use high perfromance oil and make sure to idel the car after long, hard drives. If you do that, everything should be good.

Exactly. I always cringe when people go hard on their cars when they're cold. I never get into boost or go over 3300rpm or so until the oil temp is at least 160 or so.
