Default Oil Leak, what do I check before changing gaskets and seals?

I have a 2001 Audi A6 2.7T with almost 124k miles. Vin: WAUED54B61N154524 . Just upgraded the intake manifold gasket a few months ago when I had to change a leaky aux coolant pump. Now I got an oil leak by the tensioner and under the valve cover on the pass side...

I know they just dont start for no reason and the main reason they start is because the pressure got too high in the engine. So I need to find what caused it. I think there is some valve or something, breather hose, can someone tell me where to start looking. A complete list of things to check would be nice.

And since I need to change the valve cover gaskets, cam seals/plugs and tensioner seals, a link for a write up with pics would be nice too, or do I just use the one in the tech articles, thats only for the tensioner seals and valve cover, what about cam seals/plugs??

And I might as well ask where is the best place to buy everything I need for job, ecstuning, blauparts, etc? What exactly should I get? I really want this car to last to 200k.

Thanks,

could start with your PCV system. skip on ECS.

Default Come on guys help me out a little.

I searched all night, and the only thing I could find was that its my valve cover gaskets are leaking. I could only find the PCV on my wife, I have no idea where a car would have a ***** Control Valve. lol

Default Search for "spider hose" in the C5 A6 or B5 S4 forums. The PCV

is contained within this system. I replaced mine recently. You may also want to consider the vented oil cap. It came standard on the 04 2.7T. VAST Performance sells them if you don't want to search for the part number.

Default Nice, I'll definitely get the cap. Oil stopped leaking though...

Since it got above freezing it stopped leaking oil, but I still gotta fix the problem to prevent a bigger problem. More info would be nice, thanks.

Default ECStuning has it for $24 why get it from vast?

Why does everyone hate ecs? I get most of my parts from them, nothing was ever broken and the parts are always perfect.

Default ECS has been linked to credit card fraud.

if the oil stopped leaking when it got warmer, then your PCV and spider hose is clogged. Replace it and you should be fine.

Default Re: Oil Leak, what do I check before changing gaskets and seals?

for starters that is the most common oil leak on any audi. it doesn't really mean anything, only that its leaking. there is also a cam plug on the back of the cylinder you will want to replace while you are in there
