I want to get my 2.7t (A6, 6-speed) a chip upgrade, but need to know pros and/or cons of the different mfg's (revo, apr, giac). Thanks for helping

Looking for about 300 hp .. nothing radical .. I just bought this car, and want to increase hp (without driveability or check-engine light issues), lower-it a bit (for track-day and twisty-road night use), get 17" rims, and eventually get a sport-exhaust

APR is a fairly good chip at giving no driveability issues

300 hp - you thinkin crank or wheel?

coilovers are a good investment, you already have 17" rims, and catbacks will help get rid of the sandblaster noise after the chip addition

Thanks quickaudi ..

300 hp at crank will be ok -- I have a discount certificate for a Revo flash .. do you have any opinion on Revo vs APR? (I'd rather pay for a good-product than save a few bucks on a not-so-good product -- -- if there's an appreciable difference)

Sandblaster noise?

i have only had one experience with Revo, and it was a bad one; however, they said they have fixed the software since then. I think Revo might be a little less smooth compared to APR, but that's just an opinion. Either would give you a good deal, though I would go with whomever is closer, for customer support reasons.

sandblaster noise is usually due to restriction in the exhaust when you double the output from the turbos.

I've had GIAC tuning software since about 90k on a car with a 2.7 and a 5-speed I got at 85k. Right now I'm at 142k, and I'm still on the original turbos. They claim 70 hp over stock, but that's prolly optimistic. I have a stock intake sys and exhaust; I assume the software expects aftermarket exhaust, intake, maybe fueling. They don't say anything about that in the ad copy. IMHO, the GIAC software performs flawlessly. I'm completely satisfied with the purchase.(I also did the trans "chip" at the same time).I've never noticed any 'surge' or other abnormalities in power application, but I've always been a stickler for maintenance; i.e. air\fuel sensors, egt sensors, tune-up stuff. Often zero to 130 blasts coming out of the toll plazas have garnered more than the necessary attention, but the power is smooth, as if Audi designed it, it feels 'right', not like the 250 they give you.
In my opinion, GIAC has the goods. The next question, will I do it again? I have a six speed, right now, that's waiting for a program!
