Default </pokes head in> Hmmm, this looks like a nice place... wonder if I should start coming here

Normally an I5 guy (w/ a V8 in the mix)... wonder if I should add in a V6 ; - )

Just saying "Hi" for now... but folks that recognize my name know I usually succumb to temptation.

Default bah, I-5 is smoother than our lumpy idled V6s. that, and we have about

400 miles of boost hoses that can leak whenever they want, or so it seems...

Default Yeah, I'm gonna keep doing more research before I find a 2.7t car.

Besides miles of potential boost leaks, any other fun things I should know about.

I heard you have to pull the whole motor in a S4 to swap/fix a turbo, same for all 2.7t equipped cars?

Default quite true.

in fact, a lot of maintenance items require bumper/front end removal.

as for stuff to watch for, the engine itself is relatively bullet proof as long as you are diligent about maintenance.

Default Yea, you got to pull the motor

to service the turbos. Not to bad getting back to the front of the motor, for belts, alternator and such. Then the fun stuff starts, downpipes are a bitch, would be so bad if it wasn't for the heat shields. I don't have the ***** not to put them (the heat shields) back. Every thing else it really straight forward and just take time. I've pulled three, done them with jacks stands and a hoist. The first was some what intimidating, but just plan on taking you time and it will go OK. I'm fairly intimate with all the pieces now and it not a big deal. You do need to plan on several casual days to do an in and out.

Default Heat shields are easy.

It's just their in the damn way, and sharp, to get the downpipe nuts, and everything else.
