Default Race fuel? jet fuel? 110 Octane?

Ok. ive got a source for jet fuel, and prop plane fuel. Is it the same? Very cheap.. FREE. I have no chip. Can I safely run this fuel in my A6 2.7t? And if I cant run it at stock can I run it with a chip for 110 octane? I actually dont know what jet fuel or prop plane fuel is rated at all. But I think its 110. Can someone shed some light? And how crazy is this with k03's? If I blow em (91k miles) ill get K04's. But again. How nuts is this? I want some advice before I seriously consider it.. My friend was telling me he uses it for everything.. The lawnmower. weedwacker, the wifes civic, his blazer etc.. lol.

Default why the hell would you put jet fuel in the lawnmower?

Now if you said the chainsaw, I'd understand.

Default Re: Race fuel? jet fuel? 110 Octane?

I fly for an airline as well as private jet charter. There is a big difference between JetA and Avgas (100LL) Avgas is mostly 100LL these days color blue, used for piston driven airplanes and it is 100 octane with low lead. How ever turbine or jet engines use JetA witch is basically kerosene just a higher grade of it. Used for jets and turbo props. You DO NOT wanna try and run jet fuel your car unless it is a diesel even then straight jetA can trash an injector pump, it lacks the lubricants needed for automotive reasons. Avgas by itself isnt good for modern engines either. Mix it you choose to do so. Older cars ran great on it.

Default DON'T!!! JET Fuel is just highly refined diese;!!!!

Jet fuel is a high grade kerosene. Don't put it in any gas engine. The Aviation Fuel is 100 Octane but contains lead and is not good for your cats.

Default Suppose I had piggies?

Would Avgas make a difference without a 100 octane chip? Suppose i got a 100 octane chip and piggies and ran the avgas? 50/50 maybe? Maybe ill jsut leave it alone.. dammit. thought I was on to something nice

Default I still have to agree with avants4me above and say that jet fuel /= car fuel.

even if you have piggies, you'd never get it through the system or to ignite.
