Rear crank seal ??
I seem to have oil leaking from the area around the point where the engine meets the gearbox. I have an Allroad with a manual transmission. When I presented this (under warrenty) to the dealer, I was told that this is normal and all Audis' seep oil.
I find this hard to believe and I have to top up the oil ever 500 miles. Any advice would be appreciated

Just because you have oil there, doesn't necessarily mean its coming from the Rear Main Seal (RMS)..
I had oil there and it was from the upper oil pan gasket and cam adjusters - sure as hell looked for all the world like a RMS. And I beg to differ, at some point all 30V Audi's do leak oil, but it still shouldn't happen. It may be normal for an Audi with the 30V engine, but it is due to a design and materials defect.
It should be fixed under warranty. It took my dealer 3 times before they got it right. They weren't real happy by the 3rd try, but eventually they fixed it.

Oh, and BTW - even if you are now out of warranty, if it was brought to the dealer's attention while
still under warranty, your claim is valid. Hopefully you saved the paperwork that lists oil leak or something to that effect on it. If they do not give you statisfaction, go to AoA Customer Advocate and/or the BBB Autoline. BBB worked for me; stuck it to AoA to the tune of 5 figures after the blew me off numerous times. Persistence does pay off, it just takes a while!

Biggest miss diagnosis for a Upper oil pan Seal.....(more inside)
The upper oil pan bolts directly under the RMS Flange, and 90% of the time people mis diagnose it for a RMS when in actuality its a Upper Oil pan. Both are a hell of a job. Upper oil pan calls for about 8 or so hours labor. I just did mine.
