Default short ram intake

A buddy of mine told me about doing a short ram intake for his audi. at first thought this seemed extremely stupid and something best left for muscel cars, not fine german automobiles. I have read conflicting points of view on preformance benefits/negatives. Sounds in theory an alright idea but something very different for audis. Any one got any thoughts on this ?

Default anything to increase the volume. and ease of intake

of cooler air is beneficial.
If you look at an RS6 you will see the intercoolers behind what would be the fog lights on an allroad. But with more volume hitting them than on the allroad, which has the fogs. If you did the same thing with a scoope to take in the air for your intake you would have your ram air.

So what do u think ? having a ram air would be beneficial ? i know if you just placed your intake down where the fog lights would be, it would serve the same purpose just with more air. but ive heard of having tubing put down into the grill, then have the tubing filter to the front of the intake ? i didnt know how well this would work and any draw backs.... thanks for the help.

Default the drawbacks can be you are blocking the radiator.

As I said.. anything you do to increase the available air to the intake..larger intake.. forced air, ram air.. (open to the front) is beneficial.

Default to date, nobody seems to have built a better mouse trap..

I now with the S4's, the DIY Darintake has netted results as good as any of the aftermarket Air intake systems. Basically your cutting a hole in the bottom of your airbox, and drawing air in from your wheel liner area.

I have this, and I suppose if you pull the head light, it's about as ram air as you'll get.
