Should I be worried about this, (with pic)?
Should I be so overly concerned about this soot on the bipipe? Thinkin about buying a C5 with 140k on the clock that's been well maintained by the PO. I know I'll have to replace that rubber hose (and the other) but is this a sign of something worse? I've owned 3 Audi 5000 turbos, NEVER an engine issue on any of them. I drive a 2.8 now and have never owned a 2.7T, so you guys scare me with the turbo failure horror stories. Just wanna know if this could/should be a dealbreaker. Thanks everyone.

Why don't you look inside the pipe to see how much oil has build up?
If this C5 is an automatic I would be more concerned about the maintenance
on it than the engine. However, neither the C5 2.7l biturbo or automatic is as tough as the 5000 turbo quattro--I also have owned several of them
and they are still running with new owners at 250,000 miles without engine overhaul or replacement.
