sounds like locusts attacking
let's explain what happened.....as I pulled out of the drive way I was heavy on the throttle. After doing so I heard a pop and my RPMs jumped around. Come to find out my throttle body boot popped off. Now I drove back home with the boot off. I didn't really drive hard, but had to go on the freeway. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. Now today I reinstalled the boot and everything else looked fine. When I took the car out for a test drive I noticed a whine from the engine at about 2000 rpm. At idle nothing and at lower RPM nothing. Like I said in the title it sounds similar to locusts. I suspect something is wrong with the throttle body unit. Could I be correct in assuming so. Thanks so much in advance for any info!!

When street lights turn on how it has that sound whilest they warm up. My turbos make a slight sound...like a siren....but not too loud. The sound gets louder and speeds up between 1500-2000 RPM. At 3 g's I cant hear it anymore....

Well I think I found out the cause.....my throttle body boot popped of the throttle body valve. When I reinstalled it, on the the bi-pipes was seated on the rail that is at the bottom. I guess it was making contact with the radiator fan. I've yet to notice the sound so maybe that did the trick.
