transmission problems
 

Ok here is what's going on. You start the car and put your foot on the brake to take it out of park. It goes in reverse but on the dash all the lights have a big red box around all the gears. It goes into reverse, neutral and drive. But when it's in drive it feels like it's stuck in a higher gear. It will not downshift. What can be the problem? I just bought the car about 4 months ago I don't know much about it and I don't want to get rid of it. Any input would be great.

That's what's called limp mode. You likely have a significant transmission problem.

Ya get all the codes read and post what you come up with. Most likely a mechatronics problem
