Default turbo or engine issue?

I have a 2000 A6 quattro 2.7t auto, 134,000 miles. car has a sputter (miss) on acceleration. If I slowly accelerate, its fine...but if I try to do any type of harder acceleration, feels like engine is missing. almost feels like engine is starving for gas...liike possible fuel filter issue. I was told by local mechanic thats rarely the case with higher quality gas these days. I guess I'm just not sure if its a turbo or engine electronics issue. this is the first turbocharged vehicle I've owned but always have done my own work on all previous vehicles. I've already done timing chain and starter when I first bought vehicle last year. any ideas would be appreciated, thanks in advance

How many miles on the spark plugs? Worn plugs can misfire under boost. Also, an intercooler pipe or hose with a leak can also cause problems when there is pressure in them, like when you accelerate.
If there are any codes stored, they can help you determine the cause. A code relating to a misfire on one or more particular cylinders can be caused by a bad spark plug or plugs, or possibly a ignition coil. I would start with changing spark plugs, especially if you don't know how old they are. If you have a check engine light on, you need to see what codes you have.
