what to do about my s4 avant in Miami FL Orig in s4 forum
Hello,
I have a 2001 s4 avant 6 speed. its my daily driver and has 97k miles. I am original owner. It is very stock.
2 days ago check engine light came on and the whine that sounds like a low powered dentist drill came on. Blown turbo right? Multiple questions.
Is this a slow building problem or should I park the car right now. I am scheduled to drive to Tampa and back this weekend, approx 700 miles. I don't want to do anything to permanently damage the car.
What is the least expensive way to repair/replace the turbos. Should I do just the one or do both. I am interested in returing to just stock to I guess that is KO3s right.
Is there other stuff I should get done while its in there. I have done the timing belt already, but I read people talk about wheel bearings and control arms...exhaust tank, etc.
What shop should I bring it to? Again, in Miami FL
I apologize I did search the forum under turbo couldn't find anything. If there is a thread that already addresses these issues just point me there.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

CEL could mean many things. You need to have your codes checked
and see what it means.
A dentist drill could mean a blown turbo - you should find out very, very quickly, and don't drive it if you think that you have a bad turbo. Turbos are replaced in pairs, and there is no least expensive way.
WTF is an exhaust tank?

Mike turbo inc. phone- 305-885-9082 305 885 9084 12630 nw south river dr. bay #1 medley, fl 33178. they rebuild my turbo for my s4 and they give you warranty. I think is much better to rebuild it then to get a used one because you don t know what your getting, so by rebuilding it you know for sure that it works.
