Default What is this? And where....

There were a few brittle looking hoses near my y-pipe and they're connected to some sensor...anyone know what this is?

Also, since I can't seem to find a pic far enough back that I can tell where I'm looking: where is the PCV? I've got oil leaking down onto my drivers side turbo and have read that a clogged PCV can cause the seal at the back of the head to blow out causing that. I've seen another pic where the guy had the same oil leak, drivers side, looked to be leaking from the bottom bolt of the turbo...ideas?

Found out by removing the coolant expansion tank that the rear drivers side cam plug is leaking. Now to find a DIY. Still wondering where the PCV is.
This is the rear cam seal, right?

I found this on Audizine that shows the "puck" that's leaking on my A6. Says to just pop it out with a screwdriver and pop a new one in. That simple?!
Anyone know the part number?

If I'm not mistaken that is your N249 valve. It's EGR vacuum solenoid valve.

And yes, you just pop out the plug with a screwdriver and put in a new one. Although, if you're going through the trouble of doing that, you may as well just buy an entire valve cover gasket kit and do it all at once. The cam plug and the camshaft seal are 2 different parts.

Your PCV is under the intake manifold and attached to the breather system that plugs into your y-pipe. A clogged crankcase ventilation system will cause engine oil to spew from every weak point in ANY engine equipped with this system.

Trust me, buy this: http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=GF21002-B# and follow the instructions that come with it. I doubt you'll find a cheaper price on a whole kit like that. It's everything you need.

While you're at it, I would invest in a new spider hose assembly. It is most likely completely full of oil sludge deposits and things will only get worse if it isn't taken care of.

Cool man, I appreciate the info. Alls been well with just replacing the pucks. No more oil leaking! I need to pull my Y-pipe and pcv system and give it a good cleaning, but I'm putting it off till I can tap a catch can into the equation...just gotta order one And brake pads...and rotors....and Vibrant mufflers...and...lol.

Absolutely is. As said do everything (valve covers ect.) you will most likely regret it if you dont. Remember its an audi ! lol ! Your supposed to remove the valve cover to do the cam plug anyways. Sometimes you need to apply a small amount of rtv to the plug too and then when you install the cam carrier its suposed to squish together. hence the small ribs on the cam cap. Just doin a solid ! good luck !

It's never ending! Trust me, I know!

Honestly, cleaning the spider hose assembly is a big pain in the ***. If you want to integrate a catch can, I would go to with a custom setup utilizing either AN fittings/hoses or heater hose paired with copper fittings. It's going to last forever either way.

Taking off the stock spider hose assembly is pretty much going to guarantee you break something. It's all very brittle from engine heat.

I'm going stage III this month and am following this thread from AZ ( http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-and-questions. ) to do my catch can. I'll be doing AN fittings/hoses, though. Possibly relocating my batter and putting my catch can behind the secondary firewall.
