B8.5 S4 - Coolant System Failure (help)
Hello all,
For the past 800 miles I have been experiencing the same error code after running VAGCOM:
1 Fault Found:
18198 - Coolant pump
P1B1C 00 [045] - Mechanical malfunction
Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
My issue however is odd. I first received the error about 800 miles ago. I reset it and about 150 miles later the error came back on. I then replaced the auxiliary water pump, the coolant reservoir and the temp sensor. I also flushed the entire coolant system with fresh coolant. (Flushed twice after second error message just to be safe)
Drove the car for about another 150-200 miles and the same message came back. I reset it again via VAGCOM and it didn't come back on for about another 300 miles. Then drove about 40 miles and the error message came back on then reset it and wanted to test coolant temp again and as soon as I turned the car back after resetting it, the error message came back on instantly.
CAR DOES NOT OVERHEAT AT ALL!!! Temperature gauge does not move past center. I checked operating temp of the coolant temperature and it does not exceed 210deg F at any point. Car is tuned with Revo Stage 1+ plus however this was done at 60k, car currently has 96k on the clock.
Seeing as the main water pump and thermostat are not electrically connected to the coolant system I am unsure as to why I keep getting this error message. Car does not overheat at all and does not take forever to reach operating temp.
I have driven this car the entire time with the heat off and aggressively to see if the temp would climb and not at any point did it. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
