It was a hell of an oil, but it seems that Castrol has discontinued it. I have not been "up to speed" on the best 50200 oil so I guess I am no longer able to give you a well reasoned opinion on this.

Castrol Edge synthetic 5W40 as well as Mobil 1 synthetic 0W40 both carry the VW 502.00 spec. I have only owned my 12 A7 long enough to perform 2 oil changes on it. I went Castrol first time as that is what I read the dealer used. I made the switch to the Mobil 1 and so far like the switch. With Castrol my engine consumed oil about 1800-2000 miles per quart but so far with the Mobil 1 I am about 800 miles in with zero oil consumption. Motor runs perfectly fine with it.
