Default 2005 A6 3.2 - octane question

Hi - what octane level are you running in your US 3.2's? What is the min octane...and have you seen performance(response/mpg) with increase octane over the min or is it a waste of money?

Thanks.

Jeff

Actually i dont think there is a proper forum for the 3.2 v6 as it is a 24v DOHC motor to my knowledge, it may not be a VR6 but this might as well be the forum for it i guess.

Any way, an octane rating past what the motor recommends (91 octane) will not give you any significant gain unless your motor is chipped and has a program for above 91 octane or has some other modification to it beyond an intake or an exhaust. However, if your motor has a problem with early detonation you should look into a higher octane fuel as a temporary fix but in the long run its best to get the problem repaired.

hope that answers your question
