Default Forced to buy new A6 3.2 engine after just 3 yrs & 43k miles - Audi UK will only pay half

Bought my A6 3.2 Quattro when it was 18 months old. It is only 5 months out of warranty, has a FSH with Audi main dealers, and has done just 43k miles, yet the engine completely went 3 weeks ago. It needed a new engine. Total bill will be £10.5k (it's due for collection tomorrow) and though Audi UK has agreed to pay £6k, I'm left with a bill approaching £5k. It's my 5th Audi on the trot and whilst Audi UK technically are not obliged to contribute anything (my fault for failing to buy extended warranty!) I think they could be contributing more, particularly given my brand loyalty. Any thoughts or, better still, similar experiences? If so, what was the outcome? Others tell me that in similar circustances Audi UK will often take the entire hit? Am I being short-changed? All comments welcome. Thanks.

I had an 2003 Audi A4 1.8 Turbo - My engine blew at 62K Miles. Audi said it would cost 11K to replace the engine. They told me it was causeD by lack of Maintenance - funny thing was it had just been at the dealer for a complete maintenace. After a week and $500.00 inspection fee - they paid for entire engine replacement. It took 3-4 weeks and when I drove it off for the first time the engine caught on fire because the transmision line was not properly secured. A few days later it was ready to be pickup up again. The was never the same and about every 2 weeks had to go back in to the dealer. I traded it for a 2008 A4 2.0t and have differnact problems with it - should as the wheel shakes/ wobles as speeds between 59 - 70. I have owned 3 Audi's and less impressed with my new cars.

Default I've owned many Audis and BMW's. One with 300K and many in the upper 170K range

My current A4 has 139k and runs great. Never needs oil and I push it from a stk 170 hp to 320.

I am always perplexed when I hear an engine going after such short miles, (3.2) No warnings, no noises, nothing to alert there was a problem.
The 1.8T had a sludge problem, (that was based on having on 3.8 qts of oil and 10K oil changes without synt oil).
This is most likely why Audi replaced your motor, (1.8t). As for the 3.2, what happened as this will help in understanding Audi's position.
