Default 2.8 ignition misfire

Hey everyone, here's my problem. Having a 2/4 cylinder misfire (no visible spark coming from middle coil pack) and sometimes cruising down the road it will randomly kick back in to running on all 6 again, but VERY few occurrences this will happen. So thinking that I just had a bad ignition coil I went ahead and replaced the whole assembly with an Airtex/Wells brand, about $80 off Rock Auto and same problem still exists. Plugs and wires are also new, all Bosch components. Maybe I shouldn't have cheaped out on the coil assembly? Also checked the harness wiring for any breaks or brittleness. Any other ideas to help lead me in the right direction would be appreciated! Thanks

CEL on? - have you used VCDS to see if there are any other codes; they may provide a better indicator of potential causes of your problems
