Bad cam adjuster ????? Help
I've got a 98 a4 with the 30v 2.8l . The car has just over 200k miles on it. It has been running great but had leaky valve cover gaskets. I only changed the drivers (left) side and figured I should probably change the cam adjuster/ tensioner gasket as well. I used the tool to compress the tensioner and complete the job. When I started the car back up it was idling rough and when driving it didn't have the power that it should until today it lost all power and would barely run and had to be towed home . Soo the question is.... What are the chances that the cam adjuster went out during the gasket change?? Could compressing it have cause premature failure or is it possible for something else to have gone wrong ? I didn't remove the cams or adjust the timing for this . The chain doesn't feel as tight as it used to and I can compress the tensioner by hand a little bit .. Any help would be great .. Thanks
