Bad rattle form a V6 engine bay.
Video of the sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNt9XTY8fQM
What is that sound, is it the chain/tensioner? Or a belt pulley, generator kind of sound?
Don't mind the crappy exhaust sound, it needs some repairs.
It's a V6 30V.
And is it a good idea to seafoam an engine with 185k km(115k miles) on it?

Sources of rattle from V6 engine bay
On my '99 V6, 2.8, 140'000km the following rattle-like noises occured until now, somewhat allocatable when hood was open:
- water pump: at 119'000km light rattle with an underlying chirp sound; solution: replacement of water pump together with timing belt
- steering servo pump: rattle on top of the engine, changing the tone when turning the steering wheel; solution: added hydraulic fluid and turned the steering wheel to both extremes.
- the last and loudest rattle (3 weeks ago), sound was like a very ancient Diesel engine: the accessory belt tensioner pulley bearing failed: solution: replaced the complete tensioner together and the acc. belt after I found that the pulley was no longer sitting tight on its axle. Old tensioner is waiting in my "shop" to be cut open for investigation. By the way my old and new tensioners were manufactured by a company called Litens Automotive Group in Germany (www.litens.com)
Are there other sources of rattle under the hood?
Regards, D
