Default having difficulty removing dipstick tube

Disconnected bolt from engine block, able to pull tube up approx. 3 " but cannot get tube completing free from casing.
Do I have to take the alternator off to get it out?
Any help would be appreciated.

thx Peter

yes to fully remove it you must remove the alternator. If you just doing valve covers or what not just lay it aside.

I was hoping I would not have to. Just finished putting it all back together after doing my first TB, cam gaskets etc. I must of accidentally bumped it because my oil level on the dip stick is all out of whack and I thought I would replace it.
