Low pitch engine knock 2003 A6 3.0
My 2003 A6 was placed in summer storage mid April. At that time, the oil was a year old with 4,400 miles. I started the car last weekend. It runs fine but there is a soft, low pitched knocking noise on the passenger side of the motor. After I ran it for a while to see if the noise would go away, I shut it off and pulled the dipstick. There was a milky white substance on the thick part of the bottom of the stick, and it was a quart low. I added oil and continued to run the car but the sound is still there. The car is ten years old with 55,500 miles. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you

Well if it sat its pretty normal for the lifters to be noisy untill you drive it. Short trip driving makes alot of moisture in the engine, and if you only drive the Audi in the winter, then alot of moisture can build up. Good highway drive will boil the moisture out. Idling or town driving will not get the oil temps high enough to boil out impurities.
