Oil in the cylinders

Oil in the cylinders
Ok, here goes. I have a '99 Quattro with the 30v 2.8. About a month ago, the idle started getting erratic with the car not wanting to start after the engine was warm (like when i had to run into a 7-11 or something). I could hear a miss in the engine. The gas mileage was starting to worsen also. I started by replacing the spark plugs and noticed that they were DRIPPING with oil. After starting the car back up, the exhaust coming out had me wondering if I had accidently popped a smoke grenade. Any ideas whats going on? I might not know exactly how to fix it but im a fast learner.

Re: oil on spark plugs sounds like...
one of two possibilities cause this
a. piston ring wear ( clearances around piston allowing oil to pass into combustion space)
b. Valve guide oil seals worn (allowing ingress of oil into combustion chamber down valve shaft.)
Wet and dry compression tests can usually determine if its a valve or ring problem. Its quick and cheap so get it done.
