Oil Pressure LIGHT!

Oil Pressure LIGHT!
The other day driving I went about 12 miles when my oil pressure light came on. It stayed on for only a few seconds then went off. After about 5 more miles it came on again this time staying on longer. This kept happening so I pulled over and checked the oil level. It was fine. I started back up and again after about 12 miles the light came on again a repeat of the above, every time coming on sooner and staying on longer. My 2005 Audi has 54,000 miles so I brought it to Audi. They could not find a problem so they drove it for 12 miles and the light did not come on . They did change the oil before they test drove it. Audi said they should flush the engine and that would cost $600. I did not have this done yet. I did change the oil from Mobil 1 to Royal Pupple on my last oil change, and had 3,500 miles on the new Royal Pupple oil. Audi switched back to Mobil 1.Since the oil change the light has not come back on YET! Any help?

things to check:
1 - wrong oil viscosity might be causing bad oil pressure readings
2 - oil pressure sensor might be bad
3 - oil cooler could be blocked with sludge, easy to remove and replace one the oil filer is off
4 - oil pump pickup screen could have deris blocking the flow - easy to check once the bottom oil pan is removed
5 - oil pump itself might be going bad - also fairly easy to replace with the oil pan removed
Do NOT drive if the oil pressure light continues to go off

Re: things to check:
4 rings is right, I would first change the oil pressure switch, is the most common for symptoms like this and is the cheapest.
engine flush should be the last thing to perform most of the times is just a waste of money

http://euro-techmotors.com</a
