2001 4.2 Oil Filter/Mobil 1 Extended mileage Oil Reviews
What is the best on-line source to purchase an Oil Filter for the 4.2 and is there any manufacturers I should avoid. The Dealer wants $41.00 for the Audi filter. Is there a better alternative. Also what info is out there on Mobil 1 extended mileage oil if any????
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
I have started using Amsoil 0W-40 and my 2005 S4 seems to like it just fine. The dealership has no problems with it either. I think it's rated at 7500 miles between changes depending on driving conditions. I used Mobil 1 5w-30 in my Vtec GSR Integra and I would let it hit the redline a couple of times a day. The oil would look pretty good at 5000 miles between changes for a car with 110K miles.

I bought on ebay for $4 each
Guy was selling 12 for $48 including shipping, marked as Purolators. As his ad said, they really are the genuine Mann (German) filters, simply with a Purolator sticker. I have a genuine Mann one in the box to compare to them side by side. Thus I got 12 for the price of 2 on most web sites.
