Default 2001 Audi A6 4.2 Temp gauge increasing

My temp gauge over the last two weeks which used to be straight up (12:00)has now started to slowly increase and is now 1.5 tic marks high. The fluid levels are fine. The fans appear to be operating well. The car has 97,000 miles. Does anyone think thermostat (need location and is it easy)or coolant flush??? Or any other possible angles....Thanks

Default no doubt the thermostat, very common on the 4.2's. Unfortunately, it's behind the TB but at that

mileage you're due anyway.

I had the same problem and it was the water pump and had to replace the pump. Also do the timing belt if you are close to 100k miles along with the thermostat.
