2008 Q7 4.2L Torque convertor squeak.
Hey, heres a good one. Got a 2008 Q7 4.2L Quatro, after running for a while & reaching operating temp, a chirp starts to develope that sounds exactly like a belt chirp. Trouble is it is coming from the torque convertor area. I removed the rubber covers & shoot anything (Brake clean, WD40 ect.)in the area & it changes the pitch of the sound. It won't go away but it will change it. (I have video to demonstrate if you'd like). I have removed the transmission & inspected everything but found nothing. I loosened the crank sensor slightly while running to see if it was rubbing but thats not it. Drive plate apears to be in good condition. There is a slight amount of rust in the area between the mount lugs of the torque convertor & the drive plate wondering if that could be the cause. The noise started out quite light but has been getting worse & worse to the point now where it is messing up the knock sensor & causing it to run like crap... Only there @ idle. Seems to be an RPM related issue.
Any thoughts I could check before I put the tranny back in? Thanks FarrouT! |
