4.2 40V V8 - Rebuild with forged pistons?
Hi Guys,
Just want to know what the procedure is when rebuilding one of these engines with forged pistons?
I am told they have the nikasil coating and will more than likely not require a re-bore/hone but rather a de-glaze unless the bore is damaged which is fine but this means I will be required to run forged pistons that work within the factory clearances do such pistons exist?
Also if anyone knows where I could download (ebook etc) the relevant manual on these engines?
My car is a 2004 RS6 and the reason for the rebuild is I am upgrading the turbos, transmission etc with a power goal of 800bhp (crank) and would like to upgrade the standard pistons to forged items as I am sure they are not forged from factory.
Attached is a picutre of the standard pistons/rod from a mates engine.
Thanks in advance!
