I need a replacement motor for a 2001 A6, anyone know where to look and what kind of cost? Also, I found a good price on a used S8 motor, would there be any issues with the fit?

Is the S8 engine from the same year? If so it's a V8 which should fit although electronics and probably air intake and exhaust would be lots of work. If the engine is from a 2006 or newer S8, that's a V10 which would be a screamer once you pried it in there which would cooling system mods and I would think structural body work. It would be a project with a big reward once completed. All it takes is time and money. Time equals money. Let us know if you do it. It would be funny to keep the car unmarked and then have fun at stoplights etc.

You have the S8 ECM, S6 harness, S8 exhaust manifolds and S6 downpipes, and S6 transmission and S8 trans ECM.
