4.2 V8 40v to 01e gearbox
 

Hi guys
Your expertise is much needed!
I have mated a 4.2 40v v8 to 01e gearbox for my lambo replica.
All was going well using lightweight RS4 and 2.7t clutch set but now I have come to turn it over my starter is not engaging with flywheel.
Does anybody have experience of which starter I should be using. I have what I think (?) is an A8 manual starter (off ebay 😔) which seems to fit- but are there different throws on starters?
Starter seems to operate ok out of the car which is why I'm wondering about the throw.

Any help very much appreciated!!

I'm using 079 911 023D which is starting to look wrong.
Maybe 077 911 023K is correct part.
Anybody know these part numbers?

Did you get an answer to this? I too am about to buy an Audi V8 and wan to match it to a 6 speed 01E. Do you need an adapter plate at all?
