4.2 v8 Transmission Problems / Swap
Hi everyone! This is my very first forum posting EVER - hopefully I can explain this clearly . .
Just recently purchased a 2000 Audi A6 4.2L V8 - when we bought it, it turned on and sounded great actually, but the TCM was supposedly bad and needed replaced. So, we bought the car for a pretty great price, purchased the TCM (yes it is the exact # that needed to be in there) AANNDD . . nothing changed. It will still initially shift into 3rd gear, 1st and 2nd and just not engaging. Reverse is fantastic tho. So, sounds like we need a new transmission right? The transmission in there now is "ZF 5HP24" - my question(s) at this point is: 1. Is there anything else we may be missing or should try prior to purchasing a transmission? 2. Will a different transmission go in or is at as specific as the TCM is? I have someone with a "ZF 5HP19" that came out of a 2000 S4, anyone know if that is compatible with the Audi Quattro?? |
