Excessive use of engine oil
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a 2006 25th anniversary s4 with approx 72K miles on it. I bought it with the oil level completely fine, and a week or so later the low oil light came on. I was told that these v8's, with lots of miles, burn off a considerable amount of oil compared to other engines.
Is this true? (btw there are no oil leaks whatsoever)

No leaks and using oil (is it smoking)?
Is it driven around town a lot? Does it have blow-by?
Verify the problem.. find someone with a bore scope and examine the cylinder walls.

i have a 25 quattro anniversary additions with 86k miles on it and it eats oil too, i herd something about a recall on compression that could affect oil consumption but i have not looked into it yet

Audi's tolerance is half a quart per 600 miles is considered acceptable. God to me that would seem like a wore out heap. You should drive a like it was ment to more. I wouldnt be surprised if easy driving and the awful 10-15k oil changes have carboned up the oil control rings. 5-6k max on oil changes. VW has always had an issue with crank breather systems holding together for long and cause alot more buildup of acids in the oil and break it down much faster. it just looks good on a maintenance schedule to sell a car.
