my 2001 A6 4.2L V8
when i drive at about 30 to 40 my rmp meter goes up and down a few rmps as if looking for the right gear or rmp level if i give it gas it goes aways or i turn off the traction control. a few people tald me is the trasmission computer that needs to rempaing or a censor any ideas?

Well, on the D2 A8's we have that same problem.
It's where the transmission "hunts" for the right gear, but actually your torque converter is worn. The only thing to fix that would be a rebuilt transmission. One way to "fix" that is to put the gear selector into tip mode when you are driving over 35mph. That's interesting you're getting that problem though. I thought only the A8 transmission had it. How many miles are on your vehicle?

On the gear selector,
there is an area to move the shifter over marked with "+" and "-" when the shifter is in "D". So, when you are driving between 35-45MPH, move it over and it should stay in 4th gear.
