Default Porsche 914 ABZ 4.2

Hi All,
I am performing a 4.2 ABZ conversion into a Porsche 914 and wish to ask some questions for the Audi experts out there.

The intake manifold has been reversed so the inlet is now at the front of the engine. Unfortunately the original throttle body location relative to the intake manifold interferes with the firewall (original inlet plenum in photo roughly in original orientation) so a new inlet plenum will be fabricated to position the throttle body to clear the firewall. I have mocked up the new inlet plenum in PVC to temporarily locate the throttle body to check feasibility (see photos).

Question,
1. can the throttle body be oriented in any way and function correctly.
2. does the volume of the intake plenum need to be the same as original.

thank you
