Default RS6 Engine vs A6 V8 Engine - Manual Conversion

Hi guys

I am looking into what is needed to convert my RS6 to 6MT.

I have read somewhere that the block need's to be changed to use a manual but not sure why and if this is the case I would like to know if the C5 A6 V8 block is the same as the RS6 engine block should this be the case?

Also keen to find out if i can use an S6 engine to build a long engine to put into my RS6 when i pull it off the road this is purely to save down time.

Cheers,

Mercury26 yes the reason from what i can tell was to be a cruiser and also save on costly clutch changes.

I have tuned my car to the point where the transmission is the limiting factor and weak link

No the reason was that no MT avail. to Audi could handle the amount of HP/Torque the RS6 puts out.

Mercury26- Well that may also be the case as i am not 100% either, but I have my heart set on a 6MT RS6 and I will also try and shed as much weight as possible.

A few tuning shops have done this using the RS4 B5 gearbox with great success, I will not be launching it off the rev-limiter.

Cheers,

VAST performance has put a 4.2 from the S8 in an A6 with the 6 speed from a B6 S4 =)

Default The 6 speed from a B5 S4 will bolt on;)

The conversion itself will cost around $5k-8k depends on the shop. The fine tuning is the tricky part with the RS6.
