Default S4 4.2L won't start...dead in my garage

Before I call roadside assistance and get the car towed ,thought I'd ask a few questions to see if I can revive my S4 2006 B7..
Symptoms: Clutch down key turns everything lights up but engine doesn't crank. The only relay I hear clicking is the one that is in the E-box that clicks when clutch is nearly all the way down. Battery full@ 12.6 vDC, lights don't dim when trying to start. No relay chatter either. Message on screen says to press clutch to start. This is odd since I do hear the clutch interlock relay..maybe this message comes on by default all the time...
I suspect that maybe the ground connection or battery/solenoid connection on the starter is loose or corroded. We had lots of rain here the day before this problem appeared.

So what I am wondering is:
Where is the starter on the 4.2L
Is there any way to access just the connection terminals without taking half the engine bay apart?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
