S4 Cold Air intake

Re: S4 Cold Air intake
I have a Stratmosphere cold air intake. Very high quality set up and installs quickly with just a few tools.
Do you have a B6? If so, you will love sound. As for power, I think north of say 4,000 RPM is where the horsepower/torque is most noticable.
I did do AWE downpipes and a full cat-back system. Honestly, I'm not sure I would do the cold air intake unless I did a free flow exhaust. Getting the air in more quickly doesn't help much if you can't get it out.

I always find it hard to justify intakes besides for the sound. The factory box has a scoop
A dedicated section of the grille for air. Although it does pass over the radiator, an open intake under the hood is only getting warm air. Plus a sealed intake system will create vacuum outside of the scoop, where as the vacuum will be created outside of the filter, yet still in the engine compartment with the hotter air. Maybe jsut a high flow filter would help.

How is this?

It is in development on an RS4....our mission is to utilize the stock RAM air air box, or to design a new one. It will be applicable on all V8 B6/B7's.

There are also two additional sources for air within the stock airbox
the flapper.....which pulls air via a duct from just above the right side auxiliary radiator, and from the fender, between the fender liner and the fender.
Aftermarket intakes usually sit open in the space the stock airbox takes up. We are developing an intake that is cone shaped and sits within the stock airbox, with reworked MAF housing and post airbox ducting.
