Survey - 4.2 fuel mileage
My previous A6Q was a 1999 2.8 that could average
25.+ on trips & 21.5 in mixed city-hwy commuting.
I drove my present 2000 4.2 A6 on a 3000 mile trip
from N.Fla through west Pa & on to Northern Michigan.
The 4.2 averaged about 1/2 mpg better than my 2.8.
Both cars have had roughly the same mileage & service history;
both enjoyed only 93 octane fuel. I really didn't expect
the V8 to be quite so fuel efficient ...
Has anyone else observed this benefit with a 4.2 V8 ?

32 valve A8's get 23.5 to 28 MPG on the highway all the time
They have taller gearing though.
When I went to Mobil 1 0W30, it gets about 1/2 MPG better, when I got my superspring exhaust it got another 1/2 MPG better.
If I run my car with the A/C compressor off, I've been getting about 24.5 on the highway.
