Default allroad 4.2 has a timing chain not a timing belt

check out http://www.genuineaudiparts.com they only sell a timing chain for the allroad 4.2L. A belt is only listed for the 2.7L.

Service for a chain is minimal. Although some claim on the 4.2L S4 that the guides need to be "maintained", whatever that means. I imagine it would be a fairly involved service. Do not know if your 4.2L has the same guides.

Default Re: Since the 4.2 for the allroad was shortened to fit in the engine bay

the timing chain was modified therefore the questionning about it's maintenance and or if it has to be changed.
thanks
