Default Variable intake actuator

Hi all, new to both the forum and Audi ownership.

I have a A6 C6 4.2 FSI, and I've been getting intermittent CEL with codes 2015 and 2020. If I clear the codes, the CEL only comes back on when the engine is started from completely cold (on a warmer day it doesn't always come on from cold start). I've seen the very helpful thread https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a8-...codes-2870358/

As it seems intermittent, I was thinking along the lines of;
  • Lubricate the linkages from the actuator to the 2 flap sensors
  • Then if the CEL still comes on, replace the actuator
I can move the linkage with the engine off to one extreme, then when starting the engine it returns to the other extreme, so it doesn't seem to be completely stuck,

Does this sound like a sensible approach? Also, are there any guides to changing the actuator (if it comes to that)?

Thanks in advance for any help.

For anyone else that comes across this, lubricating the linkages has fixed this.
