Excessive brake dust
I've owned several Audis and each one has shown excessive brake dust. Seems like a common Audi trait and I've learned to live with it, BUT now I own a 2012 A4 sedan and a 2013 Allroad.
The 2012 has practically zero brake dust while the Allroad is a normal Audi. (dusty).
When I asked my dealer what the difference was, he said he was unaware of any difference, both cars have the same brakes.
Does Audi have a 'ceramic" option for pads that they used in 2012?
Anyone have the part number?
Tire Rack has some options listed and right now I will probably get my next set of pads from them, but I would prefer the same pads they put on my 2012, they work great.
Thanks for your help.

They went to a ceramic pad in Dec 2010 for the B8 cars. Not sure why they were not fitted to the Allroad.
FWIW, they only fit the ceramic pads to vehicles with the small engines. The higher performing cars still get a traditional pad that offers great stopping power.

Likely as the allroad is relatively heavy and therefore the greater need for stopping power?

Thus some pads dust more than others due to what you may get on your car during production.
On my 2014 Q5 I have what I would call almost nonexistent dust from the OEM pads, the problem is I have no way of knowing what manufacturer supplied the pads and if I
buy OEM pads again they can possibly have terribly dusting, or not.

Audi has approximately 8 different brake pad companies supplying them with pads. Yes, they all meet the Audi 'performance" specs but are made with slightly different materials.
