Are all the passenger seatbelt sensors this sensitive now-a-days ? Or is mine a fluke. Super duper annoying.
I had this problem as well, but it went away after TSB 2047208/3 (SVM SW update to the airbag module) was applied.

Just disabled the seatbelt alerts with my new OBD11 pro ... now I can rest my 32oz water bottle in the passenger seat in peace and quiet.

Same issue here: just an iPhone will set off the sensor. 2019 TTS. Will see if a wallet without the phone does the same.

I had the same problem! At first I thought it was my side (driver) that wasn't working. But then I noticed if the air bag passenger side was activated, the seat belt alarm keeps going off!! So annoying!

This thread is a few years old. A recall has been issued for this issue in the last few years. I had my entire passenger seat bottom replaced under recall. The issue is not with the seatbelt sensor itself, it is the PODS (passenger occupation detection sensor) in the seat bottom itself.

Default Passenger side seat belt alert goes off randomly.

Returned from my dealer this morning for this issue. I have a 2018 A5 Cabriolet I bought 123 months ago. In the past few months the passenger side seat belt alarm randomly starts to ding with no one in the seat.. Really annoying. Sometimes the seat belt arm extends as well. I would buckle in the belt when I remember but I don't do it regularly. They said PODS needs to be replaced. Stay tuned, part arrives next week.
