Hi Guys ...

I'm getting ready to order my new '18 Allroad to replace my '14 that is coming off of lease.

In my '14 I have the roll-up dog barrier that fits across the rear cargo area. I didn't see this as an option for the '18s and when I asked the brand specialist about it he said he didn't know.

So I'm wondering if the dog barrier is available with the '18s or if my current one will fit.

With 2 German Shepards in tow, I really need something to help keep them in the back so they don't sneak up front to ride shotgun

FWIW I have a 70lb. old english sheep dog who thinks his place right beside me in the shotgun seat. I use a seat belt extension along with a short lead that has one end that clicks into the seat belt retainer. I t does not provide the freedom to roam in the"way back" but it works and is safer for the dog.

The only really safe way for dogs to travel is in a kennel. Any sudden stop or crash and a dog becomes a projectile. However, if you must have the dogs free, consider one of these.

Our 2017 came with a roll-up screen that was intended to close off the gap to the passenger compartment. We took it out. I don't know what (if any) option package it came with but ours has just about everything. If it helps I could take a photo of it.

My wife and I raise and train guide dogs. This screen will serve as a "keep out" for a well-trained dog but will not stop anything more.

Both fit really well. the cargo liner comes with a flap to lay over the tailgate when landing and unloading.

There is a rollup barrier that comes stock (in US) but the one I have is a rigid steel cage barrier.

Definitely not safe for a dog to ride shotgun. They belong in the back, secured.

Whoops, forgot to mention, although he loves to ride in the front, the seat belt retainer is clipped into the BACK seat belt retainer, NOT the front seat. I use a four point dog harness. Lets face it, there is no real safe way to transport a 70 lb dog.

A crate is best for long trips but my dog loves the allroad almost as much as I, and for short rides, the seat belt clip and a four point harness works best.i

The guide dogs that we train learn to ride in the passenger footwell. The idea is that the blind person will be in that seat and this keeps the dog close and under the airbags. It's amazing how scrunched-up a 65lb lab can get. I would not recommend this for other dogs unless you work with them a lot. Our dogs go in a car multiple times a day.

Thanks ... that's exactly what I was looking for. I just returned from the dealer and was able to check it out on the only AR they had in stock. The rear barrier screen is in fact there. The sales rep didn't even know it was there until I pulled it out and showed him.
