Not exactly what I'd expected.

2018 PP Allroad, Gotland Green with grey interior and oak, 89 miles. I'm sitting in the parking lot of a long established, minimally snobby wine and cheese place in Cambridge/Somerville area of Boston, waiting for my wife to finish inside.

Detail cop (ask anyone from Massachusetts) walks up to the car and tells me how cool the car is. We talk for a few minutes about VAGCOM and OBD11, etc.

Spouse walks out, sees the ongoing. Cop explains, "You can get into the car, maam." She reflexively disses me by explaining I still haven't figured out how to unlock the doors. Everybody laughs.

I'm not thinking this would have happened to anyone with an A4 sedan...

best compliment i ever got in my old (2001.5 S4 Avant) was when one of the grizzled delivery guys (from a tanker truck) at the gas station came up from across the lot to tell me how much he loved my car.
