On canadian model, you need to push toward the front, the wiper lever. So the rear glass and the camera will clean at the same time. It's probable the same for US spec cars...

The earlier cars had the setting in the rearview camera menu to manually spray the rearview camera. The rest of the cars have to initiate the rear wiper washer to also spray the rearview camera. This is the same for A4 allroad and Q5/SQ5. The software change happened around summer 2017.

The software change was implemented because there was a change in the washer pump assembly. There use to be a special valve or along the lines of that, now it's gone. Sadly

as a side point, it's really nice to be able to drive the rear wiper *without* the spray going on... the only way i can seem to manage that is to put the car in reverse with the front wipers on. (this is handy when exiting a car wash, I don't want washer fluid spoiling the look of my clean car!)
