While I'm not particularly fussed about the finer points of performance, I am curious about the different 0-60 times I see quoted for the Allroad; 5.9 from Audi, 5.2 from magazines, etc. And for friends who scoff at a wagon, it is be good to be able to wave a number around and understand where it came from

The quicker times seem to be assisted by launch control, which I was ignorant of and assumed was some kind of external OBD2/software assistance, but it looks like in fact it's built in.

I have not done the full-bore launch control procedure because I am still under 1000 miles. But I have loaded the engine against the brakes to build some boost, and the performance is surprising.

Launch control is legit. Definitely feels like it makes a difference.

Thanks guys - will give it a chance once I hit my break-in mileage. Going to be picking up at the factory in Ingolstadt, so if I can work enough miles into my European tour I'll get to try both that and some decent Autobahn driving too, while I'm there.
