long center/middle vent not blowing any air

long center/middle vent not blowing any air
Is the long vent in the middle used for anything? All the side vents blow air just fine, can't get the long middle/center one to do anything on any of the settings. Sales guy says it's not supposed to blow air, or blows out a very small amount, but is otherwise part of the re-circulation system.

It’s a diffuser, you will barely feel it.
If you want to test it: 1) make sure it’s open on the mode switch (sync/3 zones/etc); 2) close all the dash vents; 3) turn fan speed to max - you should just feel a bit of air flow from the diffuser.
