Default No A4 manual -- what now?

I really want my next car to be a stick and there are so few options in the U.S. that I had sort of settled on an A4. But now I see that the A4 will no longer come in a stick. The A5 coupe will but with kids and a dog, it's not as practical a car for me. Any suggestions? I could go to a BMW but the Audi interiors and tech are a lot more attractive to me than anything I've seen on a BMW. It'll mostly be used for commuting to work and the occasional road trip. Suggestions?

You can still get a manual A4 in the US.

Really? I won't be ready for a couple months but I'm not finding any in stock locally, when I go to the Audi page online it shows Tiptronic only, and other pages say manual is only available in the A5 coupe for 2018 (which is probably what I'm looking at if I order in a couple months). I'd love to hear that it's still going to be around in a couple months but it really doesn't look like it to me.

As long as you are getting a quattro model, it is available.

Just note that the manual transmission option changes the AWD to the new kind, which is FWD, and switches to AWD when needed. This is to save fuel and manufacturing cost. Some people don't like it. I decided that I wanted a manual so much that I would be ok with it.

There is one reason though why I may, in the end, not get a manual. ACC is reduced in capability, and Traffic Jam Assist doesn't work. I am thinking that I may want autonomous driving features more than I want a manual.

I am really enjoying the AAC and Traffic Jam Assist in my Allroad.

My previous car was an Infiniti G35x (the AWD version). All I can say about my Allroad is that its power train is smoother and I can't even tell when the AWD is enabled. It simply works.

(PS--it's faster than the Infiniti!)
