UK: Allroad Petrol or Diesel?

Sadly, here in the US the choice was made for us. However, if I could have gone with a TDI Allroad I wouldn’t have hesitated in the least. I love my current TDI VW Sportwagen that the Allroad will be replacing and am jealous you have a TDI Allroad as an option. I say go for it.

Local taxes / restrictions on diesel access the only issue, depending on where you are.

BTW, diesel gas for some reason is about 30% cheaper than petrol here due to different tax rate (probably thanks to strong lobby from trucking industry).

I've just taken delivery in the UK of my petrol Allroad. I would really have liked the V6 TDi but the current backlash against diesels plus the fact that it won't do enough miles to justify the additional cost (and probably a failed DPF) pushed me towards the petrol version and I'm very happy as it is smooth and plenty powerful enough for everyday driving, a refreshing change from years of rattly diesels. I have another car if I want to leave the dog at home and to go quickly.
